Fruitful Part 1
As we step into 2026, there's a powerful word that should define our year: fruitful. I am declaring this over us this year because, before God does something around you, He always speaks something over you. I believe with everything in me that the word the Lord has given us for this year is not random, not trendy, not motivational. It’s prophetic.
This isn't about being busy or exhausted - it's about producing good results that can be measured, seen, and celebrated at the end of the year.
Being fruitful means producing good results. When this year ends, we won't just say we were busy - we'll point to real evidence of lives changed, families strengthened, and faith built up. Fruitfulness creates a visible trail of God's work in our lives.
God never blesses something just to admire it. He blesses it to reproduce. When God touches something, He intends for it to multiply. This year is about stepping into alignment with God's Word and experiencing the most fruitful season we've ever had.
From the very beginning, fruitfulness has been God's heart for humanity. In Genesis 1, after God blessed Adam and Eve, His first words were "be fruitful and multiply." This wasn't an afterthought - it was the foundational blessing.
Fruitfulness isn't a reward for perfection; it's a design for humanity. God created us with growth built into our DNA. This means stagnation is unnatural, decline is abnormal, and barrenness is not our identity.
When God commands us to do something, He also gives us the ability and power to accomplish it. So fruitfulness is both God's expectation and His promise to us. We were created to be fruitful people in every area of life.
Fruitfulness extends far beyond having children, though that's certainly part of it. We can be fruitful in multiple ways:
-
Mental fruitfulness produces ideas and wisdom
-
Physical fruitfulness produces productive work
-
Spiritual fruitfulness produces character and virtue
-
Relational fruitfulness strengthens families and friendships
-
Financial fruitfulness creates increase and provision
Jesus revealed the key in John 15: "Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me."
The secret isn't trying harder or pushing more - it's staying connected to Jesus. The word "remain" means to stay connected, rooted, and planted. Your fruitfulness will not exceed your “rootfulness” (I know, but it rhymes).
Fruit doesn't come from effort; it comes from connection. You don't force fruit out of a branch - you keep the branch connected to the vine. Some people have been trying harder when God is simply saying to stay closer.
Sometimes, God prunes branches that are already bearing fruit so they can produce even more. Pruning isn't punishment - it's preparation. God will remove things from our lives that aren't necessarily bad, but they're preventing greater fruitfulness.
God subtracts in order to multiply. He removes things to set us up for increase and makes room because something bigger is coming. If last year felt like a season of subtraction, this year could be your season of multiplication. A fruitful life produces measurable evidence of God's work, in your faith and in your family and in your work and business. Fruit always leaves a trail.
Nothing in God's kingdom multiplies until something is planted. If you want to see fruit, you must plant seeds. This week, choose one area of your life where you want to see greater fruitfulness. Instead of trying harder in that area, focus on staying more connected to God through it. Whether it's your family, work, finances, or spiritual life, invite God to be your partner and ask Him what seeds He wants you to plant.
This is your year to stop striving and start thriving. God has equipped you with everything you need to be fruitful. Stay connected to Him, plant the right seeds, and watch as He produces good results that will be undeniable evidence of His work in your life.
