Good Morning Holy Spirit Pt 2

Have you ever asked who the Holy Spirit is or questioned if He is relevant to your life? Many Christians struggle with understanding the Holy Spirit's role in their daily lives. While the Holy Spirit is mentioned over 800 times in Scripture, He remains one of the most debated and misunderstood figures in the Bible. The key question isn't whether the Holy Spirit exists, but whether His activity in your life is occasional or continual.

Too many believers limit the Holy Spirit's work to Sunday mornings or crisis moments. If you find yourself saying things like "I hope God will be with me today" or "The Holy Spirit was really in that service," you may be viewing Him as an occasional visitor rather than a constant friend.

Having the occasional mindset regarding the Holy Spirit creates several problems:

- Lack of confidence because you're unsure God is leading you

- Difficulty overcoming sin because you're fighting in your own strength

- Unused spiritual gifts because you're operating in your own power

In John 16:7, Jesus made a shocking statement to His disciples: "But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don't, the advocate won't come. But if I do go away, I will send him to you." This seemed impossible to understand. How could it be better for Jesus to leave? The answer lies in availability. While Jesus was physically present, He was limited to one location at a time. With approximately 2.2 billion Christians on earth today, if Jesus were still physically present, each person would get about 0.01 seconds of His time - not even enough for a good selfie!

But the Holy Spirit offers unlimited access. He can be with every believer simultaneously, providing continual presence rather than occasional visits.

Four Ways the Holy Spirit Works Continually in Your Life

1. The Holy Spirit Will Continually Remind You

Jesus promised in John 14:26: "But when the Father sends the advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you."

The Greek word for "teach" here actually means to remind you of what you've already been taught. Like professional athletes who spend spring training practicing basics, we need constant reminders of fundamental truths.

Without the Holy Spirit's reminders, what we know erodes. He reminds us to forgive, to love, to serve, and to remember our identity in Christ. These reminders don't just inform us - they release peace in our hearts and minds.

2. The Holy Spirit Will Continually Help You

The Holy Spirit helps us overcome obstacles that prevent us from living the abundant life God offers. According to John 16:8, "And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God's righteousness, and of the coming judgment."

This conviction is actually a gift, not punishment. The Holy Spirit convicts us of three things:

- Sin: Opening our eyes to our need for a Savior

- Righteousness: Convincing us of our right standing with God through Christ

- Judgment: Reminding us that Satan has already been defeated

You cannot become what God designed you to become without the Holy Spirit's help. Naturally, we are immoral, selfish, and ungodly. But through His conviction, we can walk in kindness, peace, and integrity.

3. The Holy Spirit Will Continually Comfort You

John 14:16 tells us: "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate, who will never leave you."

The word "advocate" paints a picture of someone coming alongside to help carry the load. Loneliness is simply a heavy load that too many people carry by themselves. The Holy Spirit wants to help carry your pain, depression, and anxiety.

You don't have to carry life's burdens alone. While counselors and medical professionals can help along the way, the Holy Spirit offers continual comfort that's always available and completely free.

4. The Holy Spirit Will Continually Guide You

Jesus promised in John 16:13: "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard, and he will tell you about the future."

A guide is different from a teacher. A teacher instructs based on what they know; a guide instructs based on where they've been. The Holy Spirit can guide you into your future because He's already been there.

Like a boat pilot who boards large ships to navigate difficult passages, the Holy Spirit doesn't take control of your life, but He stands behind you making suggestions. He won't force you to turn left or right, but He'll whisper guidance about which direction to go.

From Restricted to Unlimited Access

In Old Testament times, God's Spirit was restricted to very few people and only came occasionally. The presence of God literally had an address - the Holy of Holies in Jerusalem's temple. Only the high priest could enter, and only once a year.

But when Jesus died, the veil in the temple was torn. The Holy Spirit relocated from one holy place to every believer's heart. We now have continual access to what was once available to only a few people occasionally.

As 1 John 4:4 reminds us: "But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world."

Shift your perspective from seeing the Holy Spirit as an occasional visitor to recognizing Him as your constant companion. Start each day by acknowledging His presence with a simple "Good morning, Holy Spirit." Throughout your day, listen for His reminders, accept His help with challenges, receive His comfort in difficult moments, and follow His guidance in decisions both big and small. You have unlimited access to His power, comfort, guidance, and reminders every moment of every day. This isn't just good theology - it's the key to living your best life as a follower of Christ.
