Living an Extraordinary Life
What does it actually mean to live an extraordinary life? It is not just about money, career success, or a bigger home. It is about waking up every day with clear purpose, experiencing God's peace, and making a real impact. Here is what the Bible says about how to get there.
Wisdom is the foundation of everything. Proverbs 4:5-8 says it plainly: "Get wisdom and get understanding. Do not forget my words or turn away from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you. Love her and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, though it costs all you have. Get understanding. Cherish her and she will exalt you. Embrace her and she will honor you."
Wisdom is knowing how to steward what God has placed in your hands. It is right decisions, made consistently, over a long period of time.
The reason wisdom costs so much is because it costs us our pride and our opinion. Nobody wants to give those up. But wisdom teaches us to listen more than we speak and to love others more than we focus on ourselves. Your gifts may open doors, but wisdom determines what you do once you walk through them.
One of the most valuable pieces of wisdom you can receive is knowing your identity. Knowing who you are and whose you are changes everything.
"Then God said, 'Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.' So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female He created them" (Genesis 1:26-27).
Of everything God created, humanity was the one thing He created in His own image. You were created to reflect His character, to act like Him, and to have access to everything in His kingdom.
Deuteronomy 28:13 says He will make you the head and not the tail. Ephesians 1:5 says you are adopted as a child of God. You do not have to audition to be part of His family. You are not trying to earn your identity. You are learning to live from the identity you have already received.
When you do not understand who you are, you will spend your entire life allowing other people and circumstances to define you. But when you know whose you are, you will not allow the trials of life to derail your purpose. You will recognize that what you are facing is temporary, not permanent. Your circumstances may describe where you are right now, but they do not have the authority to define who you are.
Wisdom and identity are powerful, but faith is what gives you access to everything God has for you. "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it" (John 14:12-14).
The kingdom of God has more joy, more peace, more provision, and more healing than you could ever imagine. As a believer, you have access to all of it. But some people have never accessed it because they have not believed.
"Now faith is the confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what is visible” (Hebrews 11:1-3).
Faith is not confidence in what you already see. Faith is confidence in the God you cannot see. It is believing before you see it. The Bahamas are real even when you cannot see them from where you are standing. In the same way, your breakthrough is real even when you cannot see it yet. It has already been paid for by Jesus Christ.
Faith always moves before the miracle. This is the pattern throughout all of Scripture.
- Noah built the ark before the rain came.
- Abraham followed God without knowing the destination.
- Moses stretched out his staff before the Red Sea parted.
- Joshua marched around Jericho before the walls fell.
- David ran toward Goliath before the giant hit the ground.
- Elijah prayed for rain when there was not a cloud in the sky.
- Peter stepped out of the boat before he walked on water.
- Mary said "let it be" before she ever held the Savior in her arms.
You may not have all the pieces of the puzzle yet. But you do not need to see the whole picture to take the next step. God holds tomorrow, and that is enough. Some people are waiting for the money to come in before they start the business. Waiting for someone to write a check before they launch the ministry. That is not how faith works.
You pray. You prepare. You seek wise counsel. You submit your plans to the Lord. And then you take the first step. Proverbs tells us that when we submit our plans to God, He will prosper them. The journey does not start at the destination. It starts with one faithful step. Surround yourself with people who are wiser than you. Get into the Word of God. Grow. And trust that the little you have in your hands is enough for God to do something extraordinary through you.
Living an extraordinary life with God is not reserved for a select few. It is available to anyone who will pursue wisdom, embrace their God-given identity, and take bold steps of faith. Your temporary problems are not permanent. God has more for you than you can currently see. Believe it, and start moving toward it.
