Mission Possible 3: Make the Move

Sharing your faith can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. This message breaks down the final step of a simple, practical mission that every believer can take part in: completing the call to reach the people around you.

God didn't just save us from something. He saved us for something. Every believer has a mission, and that mission is to reach people. Not the whole world at once, but the ones right in front of you.

The mission starts with a simple question: who is your one? Who is that person in your life that needs to hear about Jesus? A co-worker, a neighbor, a family member, a friend you haven't seen in years?

Jesus didn't just care about crowds. He cared about individuals. Every crowd is made up of ones. One marriage. One teenager. One single mom. One person who looks fine on the outside but is falling apart on the inside.

In Acts chapter 8, Philip was in the middle of a revival. People were being healed, lives were being changed, and attendance was growing. Then God pulled Him away from all of it to go down a desert road. Why? Because there was one person waiting.

That Ethiopian official, the treasurer of Ethiopia, was sitting in his carriage reading the book of Isaiah. God was already working on His heart before Philip ever arrived. And that is the key truth that changes everything about how we approach sharing our faith.

You Are Not the Holy Spirit

One of the biggest reasons people hesitate to share their faith is because they feel like it all depends on them. They think they need to have every answer, say the perfect thing, or somehow manufacture a spiritual moment from scratch.

But that is not your job. You are not the Savior. You are not the Holy Spirit. You cannot convict people, draw people, or save people. God does all of that supernatural work. Your job is simply the natural part.

As Romans 10:14 puts it: "How can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have not heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?"

God is already preparing hearts. Long before He puts a person on your heart, He has been working on theirs. Your job is not to manufacture the moment. It is to recognize it.

What Happens When You Delay Obedience

When God told Philip to go to the carriage, Philip ran. He didn't ask for another sign. He didn't wait for confirmation. He just went.

Delayed obedience can become a missed opportunity. How many times has the Holy Spirit nudged you to send a text, start a conversation, or extend an invitation, and you talked yourself out of it because it felt awkward?

Here is a perspective worth holding onto: it is better to have an awkward moment than to live with an eternal regret. Somebody is waiting on the other side of your yes.

How to Start the Conversation Without Feeling Pressured

Philip didn't kick the door down. He simply walked through the one God opened. He started with a question: "Do you understand what you are reading?"

You don't have to start with a sermon. You don't have to start with an argument. Just start with a conversation. Some of God's greatest opportunities arrive disguised in ordinary moments.

Listen for the open doors in everyday conversations:

- "I don't know how you handle everything you've been through."

- "I really need to get my kids back in church."

- "I don't know what I'm supposed to do with my life."

These are not just small talk. These are invitations. Don't miss the door because you are waiting for a billboard from heaven.

Three Simple Steps to Complete the Mission

Step 1: Pray

Start by asking God specifically who He wants you to reach. Not just a general prayer for people to come to church, but a specific one. Lord, who do you want me to reach? Give me a name.

When God brings someone to your mind, write it down. Don't dismiss it. God may already be preparing that person for the invitation you haven't made yet. The first step isn't finding the perfect words. It is asking God to show you the right person.

Step 2: Invite

An invitation you never make is an opportunity you never give. Good intentions don't fill empty seats. Invitations do.

Don't overcomplicate it. A simple, personal invitation is more powerful than any advertisement or announcement. When a friend looks someone in the eye and says, "I would really love for you to come with me," that carries weight that a social media post simply cannot.

And if they say no this week, that is okay. A no today doesn't mean a no forever. It plants a seed. Keep inviting. It is hard to say no three weekends in a row.

Step 3: Bring

There is a big difference between inviting someone to church and bringing someone to church. Inviting says, "You should come sometime." Bringing says, "Come with me."

Think about what it feels like to go somewhere new for the first time. The uncertainty, the questions about where to park, which door to use, where to sit. A bringer removes all of those obstacles. Meet them at the door. Walk them in. Introduce them to someone. Sit with them. Make them feel like they belong.

In Mark chapter 2, four friends carried their paralyzed friend to Jesus. When they couldn't get through the crowd, they climbed on the roof and lowered him down. They didn't just tell him where Jesus was. They brought him there themselves.

When Jesus saw their faith, He responded. Their friend experienced a miracle because they cared enough to bring him. You may not be able to change someone's life, but you can bring them into the presence of the One who can.

Your Story Is More Powerful Than You Think

In John chapter 4, the woman at the well didn't have a theology degree. She simply went and told her story. She said, "Come and see." Come and see what Jesus did for me. Come and see what He might do for you.

Your story is different from everyone else's. And someone out there needs exactly your story. You don't need to memorize 25 scriptures. You just need to tell someone what God has done for you.

This week, take all three steps. Write down one name God has placed on your heart. Pray for that person specifically every day this week. Then reach out, whether by text, a phone call, or in person, and extend a personal invitation. Don't just say, "You should come to church sometime." Say, "I would love for you to come with me." And when they say yes, be a bringer. Meet them, walk them in, and sit with them.

Pray. Invite. Bring. It really is that simple. And someone's life could be changed forever because you decided to complete the mission.
