This Is Our Moment - Part 4 The Crossover
We all face moments in life that require us to leave something behind in order to step into something new. These crossover moments aren't just about changing locations—they're about transformation, new purpose, and fresh anointing.
A crossover moment is a spiritual, strategic, and significant time when God draws a line in the sand. It's when He says, "Leave what was behind and step into what I have for you next."
This concept comes from the biblical story of Joshua leading the Israelites across the Jordan River into the Promised Land. After 40 years of wandering in the wilderness following their escape from Egypt, they faced an impossible obstacle—a flooding river that blocked their path to the land God promised them. God instructed the priests to carry the Ark of the Covenant (representing His presence) and step into the rushing waters. The moment their feet touched the water's edge, God performed a miracle—the waters stopped flowing, piling up at Adam near Zarethan, creating a dry path for the entire nation to cross over.
When the Israelites crossed the Jordan, they weren't just changing locations—they were stepping into a new identity, a new assignment, and a new anointing. They couldn't take Egypt with them into Canaan. Similarly, we often try to carry "boxes from Egypt"—past hurts, old mindsets, former identities—into our promised land. But God says in Isaiah 43:18-19: "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?"
Some of us want to walk into our calling but remain haunted by our childhood. Others want blessing while still wearing shame. Many ask God for the next level while clinging to past failures. These crossover moments are our chance to leave the past behind.
There are three key principles to successfully navigate a crossover moment:
1. Let Go of What Was
You can't move forward if your mind is stuck in the past. What baggage are you carrying that you don't need to take into your future? A label someone put on you? A past failure? A broken relationship? "Let it go." We can't possess Canaan if we're packing for Egypt. Don't bring your Egypt boxes into your Canaan season. Refuse to drag dysfunction into your destiny.
2. Step Into What Is
The miracle at the Jordan River didn't happen until the priests took a step into the water. Obedience always precedes the miracle. Sometimes you have to take the first step as an act of faith, even when you don't feel ready. The waters won't move until you do. What if the only thing standing between you and your breakthrough is just a step? The miracle is on the other side of movement.
3. Believe For What's Next
In Joshua 1:2, God says, "Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them." Moses was great, but his season was over. You have to be ready to receive what's next. God has already given it—now you have to be bold enough to possess it. The future is not for the frozen; it's for the faithful.
You don't get Promised Land results with a wilderness mentality. What has God promised you personally? A healthy marriage? A restored mind? A successful business? Healing? A calling? Don't just wish for it—step into it. Don't just hope for it—walk toward it.
When we cross over, we step into new seasons, new structures, new strength, and a new spirit. We leave behind everything that doesn't belong in the Promised Land and walk into everything God has for us. The same God who brought the Israelites through the wilderness is the same God who will bring you into your promise. He makes all things new. He doesn't just upgrade—He replaces. For us as we become Wisdom City Church and move to a new building, it's not just a change in where we meet, but a change in who we are.
This week, I challenge you to identify your personal Jordan River—the boundary between your past and your future. What specific things is God asking you to leave behind as you step into what He has next for you? What are you still carrying that you need to leave behind (bitterness, insecurity, small thinking, past failures)? What step of faith is God asking you to take right now, even if it seems risky? What promises has God given you that you need to start walking toward instead of just wishing for?
Declare with me, "I'm not going back, I'm moving ahead"! Remember, you can't step into the next if you keep dwelling on what was. Your crossover moment is here—let go of what was, step into what is, and believe for what's next.
